September has been a BUSY month in the ASD dorms! Our SPICE curriculum has begun its second year and staff have led some wonderful programs and activities. The older dorms enjoyed a trip to the Gadsden Mall. Weaver Cottage students had fun with a Blue Bell Ice Cream factory tour. Graves Hall West and Mary Leonard Hall had their annual “Fire Safety” program with the local fire department. Several of our dorms enjoyed birthday dinners and parties. Dorm staff enjoyed two departmental meetings with special guests Amy Locke and Walter Ripley. There has been plenty of homework, recreation, volleyball and football as well. Congratulations to our “September Student of the Month” winners: Graves Hall West – DeMarion Hagler; Henderson Hall – Jacob Sharp; McDonald Hall – Angel Cisneros; Taylor Hall – Justin Lewis. Another successful program has been the “one week pass” to Taylor Hall. Students are nominated by the McDonald Hall staff for this special privilege. Congratulations to last week’s winner, Tyler Thompson, and this week’s winner, Angel Cisneros. There is always something GOOD to learn and grow from at ASD. Have a great closed weekend!
