We are excited in Career Tech about the new school year. Teachers have attended professional development workshops, conferences, seminars, and classes this summer and are refreshed and ready to go. We are eager to get started with the new course, Career Preparedness, for all Ninth graders and using Work Keys for job skills assessments; assessing our students for the ability to communicate, problem solve, teamwork, and personal skills. We will also be using Kuder Assessments to help with career exploration and career planning. We look forward to activities and events planned for the year: Mock Interviews in September during Workforce Development month, Job Olympics, Miss ASD Pageant on November 8, 2013, Career Tech Month with Career Day on February 28, 2014, and various field trips throughout the year to businesses and industry in the community. Our AgriScience, Art, Computer/Technology, Driver Education, Family and Consumer Science, and Work Experience classes offer students the opportunity for hands-on or performance-based learning. We feel students learn best by personally experiencing the flow of knowledge and skills through their actions.
