There is always plenty to do in the ASD dorm program and this week has been busy! On Sunday, our students wrapped up another great camp at Shocco Springs. A special group traveled to Samford University to see the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters. The team put on a great show and we enjoyed meeting the players after the game. Monday, Henderson Hall celebrated Hunter Weaver’s 16th birthday with a taco dinner. Tuesday, we held our first track meet and the weather was perfect! Wednesday, Graves Hall West wished Isaiah Turman a happy 12th birthday and enjoyed a pizza dinner.

March is off to a busy start! If you are looking for things to do, grow and learn from – the ASD dorm program is for you. Sunday, our chapel service welcomed visitors from the Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf in Jamaica. On Monday, Taylor, McDonald and Henderson Halls competed in a “Black History Trivia” contest. Congratulations to Henderson Hall on their winning! Tuesday, Graves West and Mary Leonard Hall enjoyed a trip to CiCi’s Pizza and skating. Wednesday, visitors from the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind toured Preuitt Hall and Jemison House.

February is coming to close with a lot of activity around campus and in the dorms. Students are participating in a “Sign at all Times” communication poster contest. Big Brothers and Big Sisters visited Graves Hall West this week. McDonald Hall and Henderson Hall have been using board games as a way to improve vocabulary and critical thinking skills. Thornton Hall and Graves Hall West celebrated birthdays with dinner in the dorm and lots of good cake.
